Catholic Social Services Australia (CSSA) launched a new scholarship scheme today to fund research aimed at achieving a fairer, more inclusive Australian society.

The CSSA network includes 64 member agencies with 12,000 staff working in rural, regional and urban Australia.

“We are excited to launch this scholarship scheme because it will provide opportunities for valuable research work to be carried out across the CSSA national network over years to come” said Executive Director of CSSA, Mr Paul O’Callaghan. “The scholarship scheme will draw out significant areas of service design and innovation that we know are alive and well in our national network. A CSSA Scholarship worth $20,000 will be awarded every two years and is open to member agency staff, managers or board members.”

“CSSA recognises the critical role that research can play in improving support for disadvantaged and/or vulnerable Australians,” he said.

“The scope of research is very broad and can include supervised trials, academic study, literature reviews and documented research,” he said. “Given the wide range of services delivered by our members’ agencies, the potential scope of areas of study is significant.”

Applications are now open and close Friday, 7 June 2013.
