My Dear Friends,

As we step into the promise of this pilgrimage year of hope in the Catholic Social Services family, I am filled with gratitude for the remarkable spirit of service that defines our community. Rooted in faith and nurtured by God’s grace, this spirit continues to guide our mission to bring hope and dignity to those we serve.

My recent visit to Bathurst as Executive Director was more than a homecoming – it was a powerful reminder of our calling’s origins. In the very places where my understanding of social justice was forged, I had the privilege of reconnecting with my earliest inspirations, Sister Michelle Farrugia and Sister Patricia Powell from the Sisters of Mercy. Their unwavering commitment to serving others, a living testament to Christ’s love, continues to illuminate our path today. The story about my visit can also be found here.

I visited our friends at Centacare Central West and Orana and witnessed the beautiful reality of our mission in action. Our teams, embodying the Church’s commitment to human dignity and the common good, work with such care and dedication. They create safe spaces where hope flourishes and the inherent worth of every person is honoured. Each interaction, each moment of support, weaves another thread into the tapestry of positive change we are creating across Australia.

These experiences reaffirm what makes our work truly special – the power of human connection and understanding. As we prepare for our National Conference in March, I am excited to explore how we can amplify this impact through shared learning and collaboration. Together, we will delve into ways to further our pursuit of the common good, guided by Catholic Social Teaching and inspired by the Good News we are called to share.

I warmly encourage you to be part of this important conversation. Your presence at the National Conference will enrich our collective wisdom and strengthen our ability to serve those who need us most. Together, we can continue to be the hands and feet of Christ in our communities, bringing His love and compassion to all we encounter.

Let us all embrace this year of hope with open hearts, ready to make a difference in the lives of others. Your dedication and compassion are invaluable as we work together to build a more just and inclusive society.

Mrs Rosie Harrison (L), Principal of St Philomena's, Head of St Stanislaus’ College, Lindsay Luck, and Head Prefect, Sam Patterson (M) and Robert George, Director Centacare Central West & Orana
