MAPPING THE POTENTIAL: understanding persistent disadvantage to inform community change
At a time when many Australians are concerned about the widening gap between rich and poor, Maqpping the Potential makes an important contribution to understanding persistent disadvantage and how we might work towards tackling it.
This research is more about potential than it is about poverty, and about modelling as much as it is about measuring. By looking at how Australians may experience disadvantage, beyond the economic dimension, we are able to understand disadvange and support positive action in local communities through better decision-making at every level.
Each stage of the project has been coproduced based on the practice and place based expertise of our service delivery project partners and the ANU Centre for Social Research Methods. The findings will be used in local planning, community advocacy, new service delivery and future investment decisions, supporting community-based responses to unique place-based challenges.
