About
Catholic Social Services Australia (CSSA) invites you to join us for the 2026 Parliamentary Advocacy Summit, “Building for the Common Good“, to be held on 12–13 August in Canberra.
This year’s Summit holds special significance as CSSA marks 70 years of service – seven decades of advancing human dignity, strengthening communities, and advocating for the most vulnerable in our society.
Bringing together parliamentarians, agency leaders and community advocates, the Summit will provide an important forum to explore the critical work delivered by CSSA members and to engage in meaningful dialogue on few of the most pressing challenges facing vulnerable Australians today.
As we celebrate this milestone, the Summit will serve as an important platform to strengthen partnerships and advance shared efforts towards the common good, building collective momentum to address complex social challenges and support those most in need.
Save the date and don’t forget to register to secure your place at this landmark event in Canberra on 12- 13 August 2026.
Program
Day One – Catholic Social Services Australia: Formation, Governance and Celebration
On Wednesday 12 August, CSSA member agency heads and senior staff are invited to participate in a day of formation, mission and governance at Haydon Hall, facilitated by Martin Teulon and Kathleen Donnellan. This dedicated leadership gathering will provide space for reflection, learning and discussion on the opportunities and challenges facing Catholic social services in our shared mission.
In the evening, we will gather at Parliament House to celebrate a significant milestone in our history. The CSSA 70th Anniversary Gala Dinner and McCosker Oration will honour seven decades of CSSA’s advocacy, leadership and service in Australia. It will be an opportunity to celebrate the enduring contribution of our members and reflect on our shared commitment to building a more just, compassionate and inclusive society.
Day Two – Catholic Social Services: Building for The Common Good
On Thursday 13 August, members will convene at Parliament House for a day of advocacy and engagement with parliamentarians. Together, we will highlight the vital role Catholic social services play in Australian society and advocate for policies that advance human dignity, social cohesion and the common good.
The summit will conclude at 3.00 pm, allowing interstate attendees to return home on afternoon flights.
