Adjunct Professor Tony Pietropiccolo AM: Tony’s commitment and achievements in the social services sector span close to 50 years. He is a registered Psychologist and was appointed to his current position as Director of Centrecare (WA) in 1989. In 2016, Tony founded the Valuing Children Initiative (VCI). VCI aims to raise awareness about the value of children and the importance of creating a society where they can flourish. In April 2024, together with the VCI team, led by Sarah Quinton, the ‘End Child Poverty’ Campaign was launched.
Professor Sharon Bessell: Sharon is a Professor at the Crawford School of Public Policy at the Australian National University (ANU). She is the director of the Children’s Policy Centre and co-host of Policy Forum Pod. Sharon is currently leading More for Children, a program of research aimed at creating child inclusive societies and developing a child-centered framework for understanding, assessing and responding to multidimensional poverty. The current phase of More for Children is funded by the Paul Ramsay Foundation and involves rights-based research with children, their families and communities. Sharon has worked on social policy for children in Australia and globally and is internationally recognised as a leading scholar in the field.
Ms Sarah Quinton: Sarah is the Development Executive with the Valuing Children Initiative, is a former journalist turned political campaigner, community organiser, and communications specialist. She has championed children’s voices in areas like public education, mental health, and homelessness. Sarah’s commitment to empowering children’s voices is instrumental in driving systemic change.
