Catholic Social Services Australia (CSSA) today announced that Monique Earsman will be stepping down from her role as Executive Director, effective May 31, 2024. Monique has accepted a new opportunity as the Director of Operations at the Australian Labor Party National Office.
Monique joined CSSA three and a half years ago during a critical time of restructuring, following significant funding cuts. Under her leadership, CSSA not only stabilised but also thrived. She was pivotal in rebuilding the office’s capacity, initially operating as the sole staff member and gradually forming a robust team committed to our mission.
Monique led the development of a strategic direction that realigned CSSA’s focus towards the needs of its members. This new trajectory has enhanced our advocacy and service delivery, ensuring that CSSA continues to be a pivotal voice for our network and social justice in Australia.
“Monique’s leadership during a crucial phase has left a lasting impact on CSSA,” said Peter Monaghan, Chair of the CSSA Board. “We thank her for her profound dedication and wish her success in her new role.”
As we bid farewell to Monique, we are pleased to announce that Ron Johnson, currently our Government Relations and Policy Officer, will serve as Acting Executive Director. Ron brings valuable experience and a deep understanding of our operations, which will ensure continuity and stability during this transition period.
The Board will shortly commence a comprehensive recruitment process to select a new Executive Director, who will continue to advance our mission and support our members effectively.
